The Tie Fighter demo is a demo of the very first version of Tie Fighter, i.e. all the graphics are drawn with gourard shading and there is no SVGA mode. Also note that this was a prerelease demo so differs from the final game in a number of ways.

Alternatively you can download a version packaged with a Windows installed from remote.newswall. You need to run the 'INSTALL.EXE' file after running the windows installer.
