When you first arrive concentrate on the fighters, after a shot period of time shuttles will start launching. You should inspect these as soon as possible and disable the once containing slaves, one proton torpedo followed by ion fire will disable them fastest.

The shuttles tend to be quite fast so it is important that you keep checking the mission log to see when they are launched. It doesn't matter if the shuttles without slaves reach the planet.

For bonus points you can take out the ISDII, go for the shield generators and it won't be too much of a challenge.
