When you first arrive back at the shipyard it doesn't look like you are going to stand a chance against all the Star Destoyers.

The best tactic I have found is to dump all energy to engines and race to the shipyard. You will be attacked by fighters which can be shot down using the gun turret autofire. You will also need to defend yourself from torpedoes launched from the Tie Bombers, one tactic that works if you think that you can't shoot them down when they are heading straight for you is to target one 'i', jump into the gun turret and press 'f' for autopilot, this will do a good job of keeping the warhead in view so you can shoot it down.

When you are going flat out you can easily out run the chasing Ties. When you reach the base dock with it (shift+d) and put lasers and shield to maximum recharge. Now comes the hardest part of this mission. You have to defent your ship as it is under attack from Tie Fighters and Bombers as well as other fighters, how well this goes depends on how good a shot you are from the gun turret. One annoying 'feature' is that the often make their attack runs too low down to shoot at from the gun turret, there is absolutly nothing you can do about this.

You have to hold out until the docking operation is complete, often I have been left with no shields and only the hull almost destroyed before the docking is complete. As soon as you can race out to the Nav Bouy, dumping all power to engines. You should be able to avoid getting hit if you swerve around on the way to the Nav Bouy, and you can out run the Ties at top speed.
