Mission 5: Liberation of Gerrard V

The key to completing this mission is keeping the Y-Wings out of danger. Without the Y-Wings the mission cannot be completed as they are needed to capture the Transports.

At the first city you should take out the three missile launchers surrounding the base of the far side before you worry too much about the gun turrets. All the missile launchers are situated at the top of the cliff side and are best taken out using Proton Torpedoes, you should also try to shoot down any missiles that they launch at you.

You should then concentrate of the six gun turrets dotted about the city. Take out the ones on the top of the buildings as they have the most chance of damaging the Y-Wings. Once the gun turrets have been taken out concentrate on the AT-PTs that will be attacking the city. As soon as you get the message about the 128th Tie Interceptors head off through the valley towards the new city.

Try to arrive there before the Y-Wings (use 'F' to go faster). There are several missile launchers, gun turrets and one gun tower. Again take out the missile launchers first, the one situated on the top of one of the buildings is probably the most important.

Save a couple of Torpedoes for the Gun Tower as it is quite tough and can destroy your Y-Wings fairly easily if you give it a chance. Once you have destroyed all the missiles turrets and gun stations take out the Tie Interceptors that are about.

The more Y-Wings you can keep alive the easier the mission will be as they will be able to disable the Transports more quickly if there are more of them around.

If you are trying to get the Gold medal then make sure that you take the time to destroy the AT-PTs that are about as there are quite a lot of them. Also you must not lose any of the Y-Wings.
