Mission 7: Imperial Construction Yards
This is the hardest mission so far and will probably take a few play throughs before you get it right. You start the mission flying down a valley with Sensor Arrays in it. If you're not a good shot you can let your wingmen fly ahead of you and they will take care of them. If you are going for the Gold medal you should fly at full speed so you save time. Once you reach the end of the valley you will reach and area with an AT-AT, some Tie Fighters and a gun turret. Take out the gun turret first then the Ties and finally the AT-AT. If you are not very good at taking down AT-ATs then you can leave it. You will pass one platform with some Ties on it, if you are going for a medal then shoot these for some easy kills. You will then reach a platform which has a launching shuttle on it. It is defended my a missile turret which you need to destroy as quickly as possible as its missiles eat through your sields (not literally). There is a gun turret defending this platform as well which you should destroy next. The bonus for this level (Advanced Bombs) is located in a container by this platform. It is the container that is nearest to where the missile turret was. It's worth collecting as it isn't hard. There are now two more objectives to complete the mission. "Destroy the AT-ST factory" and "Destroy the AT-AT factory", it doesn't matter which order you complete these missions but I usually go for the AT-ST factory first. AT-ST Factory: The AT-ST factory is situated down a valley near to the platform with the launching shuttle. The enterance to the factory is defended by one AT-ST and a gun turret. Take out the AT-ST first as its shots are generally more accurate. Then take out the gun turret. The factory itself is defended by a missile launcher, a gun turret and another AT-ST. Destroy the missile turret first then the gun turret and finally the AT-ST. You only need to destroy the building at the back of the factory to complete this objective. AT-AT Factory: This is a very hard objective as the factory entrance is guarded by 2 missile launchers, 2 gun turrets and an AT-AT. Attack the gun turrets as soon as they come into view then go for the missile launchers. Hopefully you will still have a spare life by the time you reach this point as it is very difficult to get past without loosing at least one. Once the missile launchers have gone take a look around for any Tie Fighters that might be about. You need to destory the three big buildings to complete this objective. Again the AT-AT can be ignored if you wish. If you are going for a Gold medal then 'time' and 'enemies destroyed' are your two big problems. Improving your time is only going to come from experience and to improve your enemies destoryed level, destory everything with a red dot on the radar. Remember to keep and eye out for the speeders that move about the base as these are a fairly easy kill. Copyright 1997-2006 Gordon Johnston - Hosted by newswall.org.uk |
