Mission 8: Assault on Kyle II
This level has 3 objectives, which can be completed in any order. I shall show here what I consider to be the easiest order. I sugest heading to the Sensor Array and Imperial Garrisons first. To get there head down the valley from where you start, following your wingmen to the right. There is then a fork in the valley and a group of three gun turrets on the ground. Take out the turrets and take the left fork and immediatly right, you almost end up traveling in the same direction as before just in a parallel valley to where you would be if you took the right fork. When you reach the end of the valley you will be by the Imperial Garrisions. Your first concern should be the missile launcher. If you are near enough use a bomb to destroy it, if not you will have to use your paltry lasers. You should then destroy the garrisions with a few carefully positioned bombs. Next head to the Sensor Array which is located next to the Imperial Garrisions. It is defended by a missile launcher and a couple of gun turrets. Take down the defences first and then take out the satellite dishes. Keep an eye out for enemy Tie Interceptors, if they manage to get behind you they are very difficult to shake off and can soon shoot you down. As you destroy each facility you will get a short cutscene showing you the state of the remaining facilities. As soon as you have destroyed the Sensor Arary and the Imperial Garrisions you should make your way to the Imperial Space Port. If you head back to the fork in the valley with the gun turrets and take the other fork you should find that it leads you straight to the Space Port. When you arrive at the Space Port you should make one complete circle arround it, taking out all the missile launchers and gun turrets as you go. Once they have all be destroyed start using your bombs on the base. Just before you have destroyed the whole base you will get another cutscene. Just continue destroying the base making sure that you destroy every solid structure. If the mission does not complete at this stage shoot some of the Ties down. If you run out of bombs and have a spare life then killing yourself will get you a new set of bombs. The main problem with going for the Gold medal is the number of enemies you need to destroy and the accuracy you must have. You can add to the number of enemies easilly enough by destroying the StormTroopers that appear after the destruction of many of the buildings. You can improve your accuracy by mainly using bombs rather than lasers, or if you think your accuracy will be too low then fire off as many shots as you can at any enemy structure.
